The Webslinger

Well I allready have a computer called r2d2, now firstly r2 is getting a little long in the tooth, and I have noticed due to its dual video cards very few games will work and those that do, don't work properly, and it is too annoying to uninstall the pci video card and reboot and then play then reinstall the card and reboot...so this computer will be my game/lan machine, so I am making the box a midi-case as I only want one uber fast hard drive, and nice sound, nice video, lan and an uber fast cd drive, which I am probably going to replace with a dvd-r so I can read and write DVD's when at a lan.

Here are the specs:
-AMD XP2600.
-512mb PC2700 DDR ram.
-GeforceMX 5200, with 128mb of ddr.
-Epox 8RGA+ with onboard 6.1 sound, and onboard 10/100 NIC.
-Netgear 10/100/1000 network card
-Ubuntu Linux, and windows xp for games I can't get running with wine.
-80GB Western Digital hard drive with 8mb of cache.
-BAD Spidey Red paint job, with black webbing coming soon.
-Limited Edition Spiderman fan grill.
-LANing case with handle, compact and light design, with 5 case fans, one 120mm sunon in the blowhole, two 80mm sunon fans on the side, one 80mm sunon fan on the back and one 50mm sunon fan on the front blowing across the hard drives, all the fans are controlled via the fan controller on the front. You can see the fans and fan filters on the Alfa pc site.
-16 speed Acer dvd drive.
-Shares monitor keyboard and mouse via KVM with R2D2, so it has a 19" NEC monitor, a microsoft keyboard and a logitech 3 buttone wheel optical mouse.
-Not one for spending money on speakers for a PC, logitech headphones with mic.

construction begins
Here is a picture of Spidey during construction. The blowhole in the top and the two fan holes in the side were cut with my dremel, then I drilled the holes for the handle and painted it, spray painting it twice, the paint job here actually looks half decent...
Just a front shot of it during construction, you can see the front bays through the blowhole. Construction continues
Top shot It has been taken to many lan parties since its construction and as you can see I started painting the black web on the case but got side tracked by the fact that I got the pc parts. You can also see the limited edition spiderman fan grill, the saftey hazard that it is as it doesn't stop fingers from entering the case :P
Here is a front shot, complete with fan controller that there is a link for down the bottom. In this shot you can see the lan stickers on the top bay, the top bay is unuseable due to the 120mm blowhole fan, but this pc is never going to have more than 1 CD drive to keep the weight down. fonrt shot
side shot Side shot of the case, you can see the dodgy blue colour of the original front bezel, the paint peeled off when I peeled of the tape to make the weblines straight.
Here is a shot from the top, showing off the Limited edition Spiderman fan grill, and more lan party stickers. Closein top shot
Long full shot Here is a picture of spidey complete, in all its dodgy glory, yeah I know the paint job needs fixing but the fans keep it nice and cool so it works, so who cares. See the funky background picture that I found. I also hex edited explorer.exe to change start as in the start menu to Spidey.
You can see the 4 port KVM on the left under the speaker.

I finally finished the fan controller for both Spidey and Alfa see here
